Horse owners often search for equine bodywork when they notice stiffness, soreness, asymmetry, changes in movement, or decreased performance.
At Divergent DVM, your horse is evaluated from a veterinary and whole-body perspective. Rather than choosing one treatment before the appointment, I evaluate the horse in front of me and use the modalities appropriate for that individual patient.

Sometimes the problem is obvious. Other times, you simply know your horse isn’t moving, performing, or feeling quite like themselves.
Holistic veterinary care may be helpful for horses experiencing:

Muscle tension or compensation patterns
Subtle gait changes or uneven movement
Decreased performance or stamina
Difficulty bending or working evenly in both directions

Your horse does not need to have a problem to benefit from holistic care. Regular evaluations can also be incorporated into a wellness or performance-maintenance program to identify subtle changes before they become bigger concerns.
The Whole Picture
A restriction or problem in one area of the body rarely exists completely in isolation.
The way a horse moves and feels can be influenced by the feet, limbs, pelvis, spine, neck, jaw and hyoid, muscles, fascia, tack, workload, nutrition, previous injuries, and compensation patterns throughout the body.
That is why Divergent DVM takes “The Whole Picture” approach.
Rather than focusing only on where a horse is sore or restricted, I look at how the entire horse is functioning and ask why that area may be compensating in the first place.
Treatment is then individualized to the horse I see that day, with the goal of improving comfort, mobility, balance, performance, and overall well-being.
Working Together for Your Horse
Holistic veterinary medicine works best as part of a team approach to your horse’s health.
I am happy to work alongside your horse’s primary veterinarian and other members of their care team. Information from diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, lameness evaluations, farrier work, saddle fitting, training, rehabilitation, and other conventional care can all help provide a more complete picture of what may be affecting your horse.
Divergent DVM focuses specifically on holistic and integrative veterinary care. I do not provide emergency services, vaccinations, surgery, routine laboratory testing, or other primary veterinary care.
Clients should maintain a relationship with a primary equine veterinarian for those services.
The goal is not to choose between conventional and holistic medicine—it is to use the information and tools available to provide your horse with the most complete approach to their health, comfort, and performance.
Mobile Equine Holistic Care Throughout Ohio
Divergent DVM comes to you.
As a mobile veterinary practice, equine appointments are performed at your barn or farm. I travel throughout Ohio providing individualized holistic veterinary care for horses of all ages, disciplines, and activity levels.
Equine Holistic Exam — $200 per horse
Your holistic exam includes the evaluation and the appropriate modalities used during that visit. Aromatherapy, acupuncture, veterinary medical manipulation, laser therapy, and other in-appointment modalities are included as appropriate rather than charged individually.
Barns with multiple horses are welcome. Coordinating several horses at one location can make scheduling easier, especially for areas farther from my home base.
